STR-DN 1080 - Calibration setting not stored

Hi,

After performing the auto speaker calibration and selecting a setting ("Full Flat" for example), this setting is not stored.

When I switch the receiver off and on again, the speaker calibration setting is ignored, although it still says "Full Flat" in the menu. The sound is as if it was set to "Off".

I need to manually set the setting to "Off" and to "Full flat" to hear the correct speaker calibration.

Thanks for your help!

Phil

I've decided I'm going to wait until the price is right and get a Denon amp instead and try and offload this amp, it's so broken and Sony just don't care. I doubt I'll ever buy a Sony product again as they clearly have no interest in listening to their customers.

Hopefully this thread and others like it inform future consumer purchasing decisions. I'll certainly consider a Denon for my next receiver.

Sadly I doubt it, 99% of people just don't care.

Hi Beeper85,

I've tried to go through the whole thread and I think that at some point physical inspection was suggested. Did you send the device to the engineers? What was their input?

I did. All boards were changed and it was apparently checked. It clearly
wasn't as the issue was still there (which is why I'm convinced it is a
software issue).

Hi Beeper85,

Have you tried contacting the repair centre again after the repair if the issue remained?

My retailer discussed it with the Sony rep who confirmed it was a software
issue and a further month away would not change this (I was without the
unit for over a month the first time, and it was not properly tested
despite giving clear objective measurements, graphs and descriptions of the
problem). In fact, Sony wasted money changing all boards and ignoring the
provided info!

My retailer has just kindly offered to change for a Denon 2600 for a very small amount of money.

Excellent! That's great news. Bye bye to the Sony. Please update with how the Denon sounds.

The way this whole debacle has been handled by Sony is unbelievably terrible in my opinion. The absence of comment by @dutchice is telling I think.

It's really good news that the retailer has saved the day. Happy listening!
