NW-A45 and WAV files - lost track numbers

I am having an issue with WAV files on my A45 when I transfer them from Musicbee. They look fine on MB and have all the normal tags and artwork. However, on the Walkman the track numbering seems to be ignored and the tracks are in alphabetical order. All other file format (FLAC, ALAC, MP3, etc) are fine. Does anyone else have this issue? Have you been able to fix it?

Thanks.

Hi marukomu,

Probably the track numbers are missing.

Maybe check the tags with Mp3tag and add them if not available:

Cheers
Peter

P.S. Better create a copy of the files before editing.

Thanks. Yes, in MP3tag the track numbers are showing up fine. Any other suggestions?

This might be a quirk of MB, have you tried Music Center/Content Transfer?

I haven't tried other packages but I don't think it's a MB issue. I've also transferred the files by drag and drop and got the same result.

I've just had a look and it is coming from the track titles, rather than the filenames i.e. even when the files are called 01 xxx.wav, 02 xxx.wav, etc, they are still sorted alphabetically by track title on the Walkman.

I know WAV files are a bit weird when it comes to tagging but this is very strange and I'd like to get to the bottom of it.

that's normal, WAV files doesn't support extra meta data. You can't see any cover either.

The only work around for you if you want to keep such info with vaw file  is to transfer the files with Sony software "media go" that support both walkman & meta data on wav files

Thanks. I don't really want to install another system, as I like how MB works, but I suppose it is possible to just use Music Go for the transfer?

I'm not sure Media Go can read MB extra info you add but u can give it a try.

And yes you can just use media go to transfert file

Thanks. I need to investigate this a bit more and see how it works in practice.

I've now downloaded media go but when I look at the WAV files in MG the tags and artwork that I can see in musicbee are not there. Is there any way to get MG to read them? I don't really want to have to re-enter it all.

Thanks.
