HX60 Multi Interface Shoe

I have an external microphone ECM-XYST1M but there is no manual for the camera and no obvious way of using the multi interface shoe with the microphone. Does the top come off? If so how, don't wnt to force anything but it is far from obvious.

Hi aliburns and welcome.

Have you removed the protective cap from the microphone foot - it should slide off forwards? Also there may be a protective piece of plastic in the flash shoe - which should slide out backwards.

You can download the User Manual for the microphone from the Sony USA website here: -

It is not great as it is multi-language but it should help.

Until Sony fix the Sony Europe Support website for the DSC-HX60, try using the manuals for the DSC-HX50 from the Sony USA website here: -

http://esupport.sony.com/US/p/model-home.pl?mdl=DSCHX50V

I think the only differences will be in the video formats.

Good Luck!

Hi Blencogo,

Thanks for the response. A colleague braver than me showed me the error of my ways and I can now access the shoe! Apart from the lack of a manual it is all a bit vague. The microphone comes with a cable but it doesn't make clear in the user guide that this is not required if using the shoe, just had to play around with it and make test recordings. Hopefully the results will be better than the documentation!

Cheers

Alistair
