Hi there,
Yesterday I had my Z5c updated to Android 6.0 and after that, today I had some freezing issues with the Radio FM application.
2 or 3 times when I tried to minimize the application (after I changed the FM station) I got a frozen gray screen. I tried to closed the app, it appeared as closed, but radio was still working (!). After about 1 minute I got the message: "FM radio isn't responding. Do you want to close it?" I tried yes, but still didn't close! So I made a restart.
Then I tried to go to: settings/apps/FM radio / Clear Data & Clear Cache
Since then, it seems to behave normally. Any ideas to avoid similar future issues??
Really appreciate your help
Thanks in advance

In my case I realised that the the radio freezing conflict happens when I have GPS on...
Please fix it......
You are right: noticed just today that audio is only mono, even if on display says it's stereo. I thought it was because the radio station I usually listen, but it is for all the others too.
i will never regret enough that I bought this phone: a lot money wasted in poor quality.
I guess as status has changed to "resolved" we should be expecting fix in the next software update
I hope I am not too optimistic
I think that while flagging as solved who flagged it should also explain how it has been solved.
Hi,
A few days ago I have upgraded my Z3 (D6603) to Android 6.0 and I am just so disappointed with how the FM radio works. FM radio is the reason why I have stayed with Sony (over 9 years now) as not many manufacturers include it anymore. I myself run an FM based radio station and I use the radio on my phone through approximately 80% of my day and it is a must have feature and at that it must work well. I used to love the FM Radio on the Z3 prior to 6.0 where the phone would upscale the sound up to stereo providing the signal was clear enough. Now, the FM requires a very strong signal to be in stereo and even then it doesnt sound as good as it used to. Also, there is no more RDS AF!! My phone used to intelligently switch between frequenicies when one got weaker. That is a killer and must have feature. I just cant believe how the experience of the FM Radio on my phone has downgraded so significantly through an update. The app will hang and crash the phone quite often as well and also when the signal gets weaker it lowers the volume. I just wish I could revert to the app that I had on 5.1.1. I have tried extracting the app from my mums Z2 which is on 5.1.1 but it would not install on my 6.0 Z3. I have also attempted multiple tutorials on how to use APK Studio to hopefully change the app to the way I want it but I have never done this before and I am clueless. I just think that having to do this is slightly absurd. Please I wish that my points are taken into consideration and someone at Sony kindly looks into this as this my dealbreaker and the reason why I would try to revert back to 5.1.1.
Thank you
HI,
I just updated to 32.1.A.1.185 and as said before the FM Radio is terrible :
- The stereo is really weak compared to Lollipop
- No AF anymore
- RDS works 1 out of 10 times
- TrackID doesn't work anymore with FM Radio
Considering all the other issues with Bluetooth audio streaming I think you guys should really check your BT/FM chp driver...
It worked just fine on KK, I guess chip is ok, drivers are not
Hi,
I've started to use my new X5 in the past two weeks - the FM Radio freezing issue is still in play - though changing the headset helped a degree, as did removing my Cache data. When will the upgrade happen?
Many thanks, I find this forum much more helpful than speaking with my phone provider customer support personnel. I'm going to opt to not return the phone for a replacement/ repair. I'm going to assume the problem will be resolved and solution posted here.
Thanks all for the read - it's helpful.
