Android Marshmallow No stamina mode

Since Marshmallow has replaced Stamina mode, can you selectively choose which apps you want to keep running in the background when the screen is off or does doze just disable all background running apps whilst in idle?

I would really like to know this as I only like getting selected app notifications when the screen is off.
Does doze give you the same amount of freedom to selectively choose which apps to keep running in the background?

I'm still waiting for MM but from what I heard there's quite a few problems with it, anyone who has it, any improvements to the camera performance or is it still poor?

Does anyone know how I can reactivate Stamina mode on an Xperia Z3 Compact? I'm not sure how to get the mentioned firmware 32.2.A.0.224.

Like the user above, I was upgraded automatically to Marshmallow this week, and battery life has nosedived. I tried installing Avast battery saver but not making much difference. I really need Stamina mode back.

Just got me too the new firmware 32.2.A.0.224 (Customized IT), I set Stamina to auto start at 15% and now when battery arrive to 15% I see not only one, but TWO notifications! Slightly_frowning_Face

Come on Sony, please add back the simple and nice + near the battery icon like before when Stamina start and remove these TWO annoying notifications.

Agreed 100%

Stamina mode and extended battery life was one of the prime reasons for getting a Z3 (as recommended by a couple my techy friends)   The camera quality is a bonus too

I moved from a HTC and the Z3 in ultra stamina mode was fantastic in that for my usage, the battery life was measured in days not hours

Well that was till a couple of days ago when I 'upgraded' to 6.0.1  even in 'Battery Saver' mode

I recently updated my phone and now power management settings is gone. I now only have battery and can no longer access any form or battery saving mode.

@Samage7

It's simple, just go to

Settings, battery, menu, and you'll see the option

It's only coming up with battery saver and battery optimisation.

The battery saver doesn't give me any of the original options I had, where I could chose stamina mode or ultra stamina, none of that is available.

If i use the battery saver it says that it reduces my performance limits a lot of other features including my data, location services etc

I now seem to have good battery life with the 32.2.A.0.224 firmware. Initially I still had wake lock issues with this firmware but it I seem to have fixed these. First of all I disabled location history and that solved the wake lock issues initially bjt the wake lock issues quickly started again. Then I remembered that I had used custom settings for doze using adb commands. Therefore, I decided to restore these settings to their defaults. After this, I now have already a full day without wake lock issues and very low battery usage.

In summary, these are the settings I am using now:

  • Stamina mode always on
  • Location history turned off
  • Location access disabled for any application that I don't think should have location access
  • Location mode on high accuracy, i.e. full use of gps, wifi, and cellular networks for location
  • No hacks for doze settings

Of these, the most essential was to use default doze settings. The change is noticeable since the phone also feels colder.
