Smart backlight control since last update

Since my last update I've seen a barrage of notifications to tell me that the smart backlight control isn't working. I've tried various different ways to stop this as it's every few seconds (no exaggeration is less than every 15 seconds in between each message)

I can't disable the smart backlight in the app settings and tried force stopping it for it only to happen instantly. I've turned off the auto adjusting backlight within the display options too but it's still happening

Hello again everyone!

@_mjc_, I understand the frustration and while you wait for the update to be available for your device, take a look at this post and see if that helps!

Regarding the brown blob, do you always see this on the display, or is it just showing up in certain applications? You can do the display test found in Settings > Support > Xperia tests > Display and see if it's shown there.

@kolegaz, This will be solved in a coming software update, however I can't say when this update will be available for your specific device, but I hope it will be soon.

@Unregistered user, thank you for this information and I'm really glad to hear that! Slightly_smiling_Face

@MilanG, I understand the frustration and I'm sorry that you experience this behaviour.

This will be resolved, but since updates are not released at the same time for all devices, I'm afraid that I can't give you an exact date as to when you will receive the update that resolves this.

Well, I'm still on A.4.41 and my device claims it's updated with latest sw!?

I saw @Unregistered user's post yesterday indicating that update 47.2.A.6.30 seemed to resolve the issue, but I'm in the same boat as @MilanG . My phone was updated to 47.2.A.4.41 on January 22, 2019, and shows that it is up to date when I checked for updates.

@Poit57, @MilanG ;

The updates are released gradually according to the costumization version of your device, check out the latest version to your costumization version in Xpericheck.com.

Hello again!

@MilanG and @Poit57, that means that the .41 software version is the latest one released for your specific devices/customizations as @NunoSEN2 wrote. In @Unregistered user's case, his device has received a newer software version (47.2.A.6.30). When the new update is available for your devices, you will receive a new notification telling you that there is a new software update available.

Do note that I can't say when this update will be available for your devices as updates released at different times depending on the operator, market, region or country.

If it has taken Sony this long to fix something so small then I'm surprised they even managed to get a phone working to begin with. I think Sony may have hit the peak of their technical expertise with the Walkman. Since this issue is affecting my work I will be returning this phone for another more reliable brand. I have lost all confidence in Sony.

@Jonas

My version is directly from Sony for CE region, not branded by any GSM provider. So I hope you will fix it asap.

Dear Sony

Upgrade to Android Pie was a disaster. It's the very first time I wish I wouldn't done that (but I couldn't).

Smart backlight app crashes despite I have turned this function off. The smartphone is useless when there comes a crash message ten or twenty times in a row. It's very dangerous, while you driving and using the spartphone as a navigation.

I hoped that update to ver 47.2.A.4.41 will solve the problem, but it didn't.

And it's a PREMIUM phone!!! I was glad for it at the start. It's my first SONY Xperia phone. And the last.

SONY! Wake up and do something!

Regards

Tomasz

PS. And I can see, that last security update was in DECEMBER!!!

I believe you may have received the latest patch. The above link is for the CE region. Is the problem still there?

Why is this marked as solved? I can't find any solution in the Sony reply.

When will a fix be released?
