Since my last update I've seen a barrage of notifications to tell me that the smart backlight control isn't working. I've tried various different ways to stop this as it's every few seconds (no exaggeration is less than every 15 seconds in between each message)

I can't disable the smart backlight in the app settings and tried force stopping it for it only to happen instantly. I've turned off the auto adjusting backlight within the display options too but it's still happening

This is getting to be very anoying now... Any word from Sony about a patch?

Hello everyone and I'm really sorry to hear about this.

You might experience that the Smart backlight control does not work or keeps stopping. This is a known behaviour that will be corrected in a new software release.

I restarted my phone but it does not work! I'm too tired to see this message (smart black light controll keep stopping) please help me

How do we stop it in the meantime? Phone won't go 30 seconds without this pop-up, force stop does nothing.

Hi @Ramin_attai, I understand that this is very irritating, it will be solved in a coming software update though.

You can take a look at the post that @najodleglejszy made and see if that helps, until the update is available for your device.

Hi, After update to Android 9 my Xperia XZ1 I get crash on Smart backlight control, it very annoing. Clear data doesnt help for longer period, especially when I use xperia with google maps on drive mode. Xperia is charging in the same time, its important to see this bug. Its also very dengerous for drivers, so please fix it asap!

Anyone still have the problem after updating to 47.2.A.6.30? This is the latest update 4 days ago, from then so far I am not seeing this issue...any feedback, anyone?

Yes, continuous problem on XZ Premium. Specifically noticed when charging, app pop-up cannot be stopped. Limiting use of device, cannot switch app off. Amazing mess... Disappointed by Sony Support and I'm using Sony since Sony-Ericsson, can imagine how is this for new users,
