So, this is pretty irritating: every time there is some form of 4g/WiFi data transfer, small triangles appear in the statusbar, horizontally shifting any icons to the left of it (Bluetooth, vibrate, etc) noticeably. As years of Android usage have trained me to notice changes in the statusbar this is really distracting.
Previous Xperia Android versions had these triangles as part of the actual 4g/WiFi icon, preventing this shifting of other icons. Why change something in a way that results in worse UX? I'm counting on Sony to revert this to the previous more sensible behaviour (firmware update).
I've noticed that too. Just embarrasing. Can't believe nobody cares, such a shame on industry.
It's part of Oreos design,
Over the years the icons have changed so much that people either hate the change or love it.
Myself, I hate it as it's distracting when the arrows shift icons to make space. But I know it's one of those things that'll become the norm over time.
Actually, I don't think it's part of Oreos design (a friend has Oreo on his Nexus 5x; and doesn't have the shifting icons). This is an 'improvement' by Sony.
Yes, I would like to see an option to disable this as well!
I'd also like to see these things disabled:
- The annoying notification "mobile data is disabled". Yes, I know: I clicked the button to disable it myself!
- The annoying blinking red notification led when the battery gets below 15%. It's fine to be notified ONCE.... not every few seconds!
