I got the Xperia XZ since about March this year. Ever since I had it my voice would drop regularly during calls, even though I was standing still. I sent my phone for out for repairs 2 times, I got a new sim card, but unfortunately nothing worked. Last week I got a brand new replacement Xperia XZ, but once again my voice is still dropping regularly during phone calls...
Does anyone else experience this problem?
Anyone? A word from Sony themselfs maybe?
Hi @JeffreyM, that's very strange
If it is 2 different phones, the only common factor is the network. Does this happen no matter where you go, or is it only in one place?
Have you tried to use a SIM card from a different network?
It's doen matter where I go, it happens everywhere.
I now got a new phone once again, a Xperia XZ Premium, but it's still happening.
It does not happen when I call using the speaker method, just when I have the phone at my ear, which leads me to think it's a noise cancellation problem. A quick google search on "Sony Xperia microphone noise supression" leads me to an older issue with the noise suppresion of the microphone while calling (/t5/Xperia-Z-ZL-ZR/Xperia-Z-Mic-noise-reduction-setting-kills-mic-audio-during-call/td-p/302019). It dates from 2013 to 2016. They have same symptoms as I just described.
Is there still no default solution for this?
In the meantime I can only set Microphone sensitivity at auto (which it is at now), high, average and low. What would be best to not having my voice drop every 10 seconds?
Yes, I did receive a brand new SIM card from Vodafone.
Is there any way to completely shut off or remove the piece of garbage you call Microphone Sensitivy? I tried every available option: auto, high, average and low, but not none of them work. Apperantly it's been an issue with Xperia users for years, fix it...It's getting really hard to justify going for a Sony in the future again. Can't even have a normal call without having to turn on and off the speaker mode every once in a while to get the microphone working properly.
@JeffreyM, if this has happened with 2 devices on the same network with different SIM cards it indicates to me that there's an issue with the network. I recommend you try a SIM from another network just to test.
