Xperia Z2 Microphone issues (wechat, recording voice apps)

Anyone having problem with Z2 mic?

The recording is so low I have to like point the phone mic towards the person I'm trying to record.

Also when using wechat/whatsapp voice chat system, it was so low the other party can't even hear what I'm talking.

Anyone else have issues or fix on this matter?

I feel like returning this phone 😞

I have exactly the same problem with a Z1.  I took it back to Vodafone for a replacement but the new one was excactly the same. Sony technical support were no help.  Clearly its a fault with the automatic gain control.  Sony tech support claimed it must be the fault of an app I had downloaded - but it was the same with a brand new phone.  I even download a complete software refresh but that failed to solve the problem.  Hope you find the answer.
