can not update my arc s

Hi Guys,

I am a noob when it comes to android devices. I have my phone for more than 2 years, but can not update to the newest version of Android availabe for my Arc s -> Ice Cream Sandwich. I am still running Gingerbread.

When I try to update, the phone tells me that my software is up to date. The same happens when i do it via PC Companion.

Can you help me to finally get an update? The warranty is already over, so i am opened to any suggestions.

Does PC Companion say that you have the latest update or do you get any other message? Updates may differ from market to market, you can always contact your local support team for further information about the latest update for your market:

Hi and thanks for the quick response.

PC companion is saying exactly that -> you have the latest software on your device.

The thing is, that the phone was bought from a carrier in Slovakia and now I am in Czech republic using a Czech one.

People from the Slovak carrier  told me, that they will not release the update for the phone as it is not in their portfolio anymore

I was at a Sony center here and they told me that there is a way, but I would void my warranty and that they are not paid to do that with the devices

Please help me how I can get the most of my phone with the latest Android version as I like the phone and i dont want to change it yet.

Even if you change operator, your phone will still be customized to the original one. Perhaps you can check out the Android development section to see if you can find some further information. I'm unable to assist you in this matter since you have the latest software available for your device.

DONT UPDATE.

Really, Ice Cream Sandwich official update from Sony its a crap. Slow, a lot of lag, bugs (yeah, the notification led not working fine since the update has released)....

Use Gingerbread.

i didnt do anything yet, cause it seems that i kinda have to jailbreak the phone and i dont know if that is the best idea... i dont want to brick the phone...any other suggestions guys?

Buy a decent phone, i've just retired my Arc S that was rooted & running stock Sony Gingerbread with all the bloatware removed.

Even with all the app's moved to sd card the phone was still moaning about low memory & unable to update app's.

I got annoyed, finally saw the light & ditched Google's spying Android operating system, I went Windows Phone 8.1 with a Nokia Lumia 930, it urinates all over the Arc S for build quality, battery life & performance.

The Arc S was good in it's day but that day was way back in 2011 & the hardware just isnt up to running the latest / updated app's.
