VGP PRZ20C DOCK STATION VAIO PARA VPCZ221X9E
Problems getting Sony Z Series Power Media Dock to with Windows 7. The AMD Radeon HD 6650M Driver doesnĀ“t work. Where can i get an updated drive that works with the Power Media Dock
Hello
I have the same problem but win7 64 bits
First I have tried to install the original AMD Radeonā¢ HD 6650M* downloaded from Sony support but I get two errors
- when installing catalyst software shows an alert of installation but It goes on final
- When connecting the Dock, a blue screen appears with de message "stop......... atikmdag.sys............... bla bla bla...... Microsoft lyric and tragic poem......."
- Undocking the station and restarting the system a message of error "...... not working or something like that...... catalyst***.dll"appears
I have doubt of the integrity of the DOCK STATION hardware or the software instead or both of them
My concerns is that the dock station could be damage and using it could fry or burn the VAIO LAPTOP
Thank You

Hi mlunadem and welcome.
Exactly which driver have you tried to install?
You need a Hybrid Graphics Driver (Intel/AMD) as the Vaio uses Intel Graphics in standalone mode and the Media Dock requires AMD Graphics.
Have you tried the 'AMD Radeon HD 6650M and Mobile IntelĀ® HD Graphics' Hybrid driver in the 'Preinstalled Drivers and Utilities' download section for your model here?

Here is the 64-bit version
This hybrid driver is not available for Windows 8 - you are stuck with Windows 7.

Hello
I have used the hybrid driver AMD_Graphics_Driver_8.830.7.0 downloaded from the website, and before that reinstalled all the apps from SONY, shared library
This oneā¦ā¦ā¦ā¦ā¦. Is missingā¦ā¦ā¦ā¦ā¦.. and THIS COULD BE THE REASON FOR MY PROBLEM
http://www.sony.co.uk/support/en/content/cnt-dwnl/prd-comp/MRDOTH_00248942_0042_5873/VPCZ21X9E
Yes I am using WIN7, that is enough for me.
I made a clean of all the amd ati drivers, installed again, safe mode, normal mode, clean the registry, correct with Microsoft āexpand the atikmdag.sy to atikmdag.dll and replace the previous one in C:\windows\system32\... driversā¦. etc etc
The most I got was that AMD Display adaptor appeared in the device manager but whit yellow mark and also de DVD-ROM unit, andā¦ā¦ā¦ā¦ā¦. when connected the DOCK STATION to the external monitor and selected it ā¦ā¦ā¦BSOD appearsā¦ā¦ā¦ā¦.
I canĀ“t understand that a laptop of almost 3000 ā¬ has this kind of problemā¦ā¦
Thank You

sectors, all the SONY VAIO drivers apps installed WIN7 64 and the error
goes on. Before that I downloaded the MRDOTH.... driver from UK website.
Last try I will do with leshcat driver unnoficial amd & Intel driver. I
guess is a problem of the GUP chip that is welded on the motherboard the
previous SONY VAIO Z SERIES had this problem too. Thank Hoy.
