sony fw11sr and vista 64 bit

Good day everyone!
English is not my first language so I apologize for my grammar mistakes.

I have purchased the sony fw11sr with Vista Home Premium 32 bit, and reinstalled a new version of Vista Ultimate 64 bit. I downloaded and installed every drivers from here http://support.vaio.sony.ru for vista windows.
Now, I got some miss driveres (at device menager there are 3 devices with unkwnonw type) and also i can't set brightness with keys Fn+F5 or Fn+F6 (merely it does not work!).

Can anybody help me?

(for russian)
Добрый день всем!

Вопрос номер раз, почему я попал на англоязычный форум выбирая при этом странну Россия?
Это что, новый способ издевательства?

Далее строго по вышесказанному. Купил ноут ony fw11sr with Vista Home Premium 32 битная версия.

hello,

I would advise you to check VAIO's USA website (http://esupport.sony.com/), as some of their models ship with Vista x64 installed. The model numbers are a bit different but it's fairly easy to spot a laptop similar to yours.
Then you just need to download "Original - Sony® Shared Library" under System Components and any other file you find usefull.
Post back if you run into a problem

good luck

Thanks for links.
I tried to use the drivers (from links) for similar model (fw148,fw190, fw292 and some others for 64bit Vista) but it is not work on fw11 😞 .

I can't understand, what is wrong and what i have to install to make functionality of fn+F5 and fn+F6 keys. For instance, the fn+F2 work properly, it displays the symbol of nosound and turns off the sound. But there is not any action on fn+F5 or fn+F6 (nothing displys on bottom). 😞

So what you are saying is that only the brightness keys aren't working?
Usually that's because the graphic driver you are using doesn't support the smart dimmer in your laptop.
When I installed Sony Utilities everything worked except the brightness (the slider wouldn't move from the lowest position, even thought the brightness was maxed).
I don't remember exactly what I did, I think I searched for a VAIO laptop with the same graphic card and tried to installed its drivers. It was very confusing, I tried millions of graphic drivers so I can't really remember what I did to get it working..

This worked for me (posted by jastababe on fixya.com)
Not all things will be available to you, but enough will.

t seems like people are having problems with getting the Fn Brightness and CD Eject Keys working when installing XP.

The following files and install method works here:

01. Install SFEP [AR51] (Right Click - Install SonyNC.inf)

02. Install Sony Shared Library [AR51] and Restart when prompted

03. Install Sony Utilities DLL & Settings Utility Series [BX4]

04. Install VAIO Event Service. Select Custom and Check VESUnique and Sound [BX4]

05. Copy AR51 Vista VESConfig.ini (from attached zip file) to folder C:\Program Files\Sony\VAIO Event Service

06. Start - Run services.msc

07. Find Vaio Event Service in the Services list and Restart the Service.

Your Fn and EJECT Buttons should now work.

With regard to the unknown items in Device Manager, one is likely to be the camera and another maybe a network controller. Try the manufacturer's sites for 64 bit drivers.

Thanks to all!

So what you are saying is that only the brightness keys aren't working?

Exactly!

I make some investigation :smileyhappy:, I installed the vista 32 bit and find that my original driver of SNC from sony russian sites does not installed from exe file! It my be installed only by direct update driver option and choose the disk(path) with SNC driver. Since SNC wasn't installed the behavior of fn-key under the Vista 32 is the same (fn+F5/6 doesn't acts, but fn+F2 works properly with showing a level of sound) as under Vista 64bit. In both case i got the same thing - no driver for SNC.

So there isn't any problem with video driver, there is a problem with SNC driver.
For vista 32 that is not a big еrouble, it can be esealy find everywhere, for example here at this forum http://club.vaio.sony.eu/clubvaio/ru/ru/forum/viewthread?thread=40292 the link on SonyNC.cab (76412 bytes). And after installing of it, the fn+5/6 starts to acts correctly! It changes the brightness and shows brightness levell at the bottom.

For vista 64 - I can't find any driver not in exe file. All SONY supprots sites provide this driver only as exe application. And unfortunately these exe-files don't install anything on fw11 (it ask for some error, or for wrong model, or don't work at all).
Also i tried to use SNC driver from vista 32 but failed (the system prohibit to do this).

So i still need in SNC driver for Vista64 without any exe container file.
I check SNC device id - it is ACPI\SNY5001 *SNY5001

Can anybody help to find it?

Yes! I did it!

I find that the SNC sometimes called as SFEP.
So i downloaded the SODSNC-14376700-64.EXE and unpacked (i used uniextract).

Now it works and I'm happy!

Here is the pure driver of SNC for fw11 vista64.
