Hi,

I am looking to purchase one of the 2 laptops below:

Sony VGN-FW31M or Sony VGN-FW31J however when I look at the spec of the laptops on some websites they are different to others, I need to check some of the details as the Sony website spec is different to the shops where I am going to buy the laptop.

On shops webiste it says FW31M has 256mb graphics memory and the FW31J has 512mb graphics memory - on the Sony website it says both models have 256mb onboard graphics memory, also FW31M has 10/100 ethernet connectivity and the FW31J has 10/100/1000 connectivity. The Sony webiste state 10/100/1000 connectivity.

Can anyone clarify for me asap, any opinions on the 2 laptops would be good too.

I only have the same information as you to go on.

My understanding is that the FW31J and the FW31M are exactly the same except:

The FW31M has a faster processor - 2.4GHz. The FW31J has a 2.0GHz processor.
The FW31M has a L2 Cache of 3072MB - The FW31J has 2048MB.
The FW31M has a 500GB Hard Disc - the FW31J has 400GB.
The FW31M has a Blu-Ray Reader and Burner drive - the FW31J only Reads Blu-Ray discs (Combo-Drive).

As far as I can see, these are the only differences in the two models - except for £130.01 of course - so you pays your money and you makes your choice!

Does anyone have a FW31M that can verify the ethernet connectivity and/or the graphics mb?

Sorry, I should have said.

All the FW-Series have Fast Ethernet 10BASE-T/100BASE-TX/1000BASE-T

Both the FW31J and the FW31M have the WXGA++ (1600x900)screen and both have ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 3470 graphics. Both have dedicated GDDR3 Video Memory of 256MB.

FW31M is the higher spec Vaio - other specifications are attached below: -
