Slow bad quality playback of hd video

Hey

Im after some advice or help with some pretty bad playback I am getting on my Sony Vaio 18 Inch vgn-aw41mf

I have windows, quicktime and vgc media players and they all corrupt the playback of hd videos in different ways - no matter how long the clips are. The videos work fine on my friends mac so...

My laptop is 6 years old around I think with some deacent space left as far as Im aware.

My Vaio does get quite hot if I have alot of things open but the problem persists regardless of this to be honest.

Any help from anyone would be appreciated.

I have always liked k-lite mega codec pack (plus it was just updated on Wednesday) - it also uses MPC-HC as the player - nothing flash but I have never had a problem with it.

For me I use VLC Media player - works a treat for me.

Sorry, I meant vlc media player, does not work like the others I try 😞
