Hi all!
I've just bought a Vaio Notebook VNG-FZ11E from Holland.
Is it possibble to change the windows backup language (dutch) to english so next time i use the recovery tool it will install a fresh copy of vista but in english?
thanx!
Hi Alexilie and welcome.
Unfortunately, you have bought a Dutch Vista License and Vista Home Premium does not allow you to change the language of Vista.
You have two ways to change the language: -
1. Buy a new English version of Vista.
2. Upgrade to Vista Ultimate which allows language packs to be downloaded.
Sorry - it is expensive either way.
I've tried to install a fresh copy of vista in english but some functions, as Fn, S button and some multimedia buttons didn't work. 😞
Where can i find a keyboard driver for my vaio?
Hi Alexilie,
Download the VGN-FZ11E series Original Utilities Package from HERE , then extract the files and install the following in order.
1 SonyUtils DLL
2 Sony Shared Library
3 Vaio Event Service
4 Setting Utility Series
Once completed then re-boot your vaio.
You may have to do this more than once..
thanks a lot guys!
You are the best!
You're welcome Alexilie..
In the recovery partition, in the directory SOURCES there are 2 files boot.win and version.ini
In the version.ini, there is a line with language. If we change the language entry in the file, it might boot with the desired language:
[Lang]
Lang=ENU
I am not sure if the files in the recovery partition are editable and if this will really change the language, but if it solves the issue, no harm I guess.
