Bravia KDL-40EX711 usb Recording

hello friends

just got me this new LED, got to be able to record stuff into a USB HDD,

everything with playing movies/photos works well

but

cant record, cant find any guide about recordining

anyone pls help me out here

First of all USB recording only works for digital transmission recieved via DVB-T. You cannot use it if you have a decoder which is connected via HDMI to the TV.

If you have DVB-T transmission then you need at least a 32GB USB pen or HDD.

First you have to register the USB.. you need to go in the setup of the TV and go in the recording options, have the USB formatted there and then authenticated to the TV. (Sorry I cannot give you the exact steps caue I am not at home right now).

Once this is ready there are 2 ways how you can record

1) press the record button on the remote or smart phone application - this will record the current channelbeing viewed.

2) go to the guide, choose the program you want to record, press i+ and choose set timer

One thing to note is that the USB is also used as a buffer memory when downloading videos via youtube and I suppose other streaming websites.

for the first I want to say many thanks for you taking the time to replay and try to help me,

I am using a external HDD with 320 GB,

as I wrote it will play everything,

I think my problem is the USB register, I just cant find the place...

I am using my DVB-T so that must me OK..

I looked for this recording options evrywhere....but cant find it

I had a quick look at the specifications of the ex711, and I canot find anywhere saying that it has USB recording. Sorry mate but this feature is not supported on this model of tv.

I know that sony introduced this feature with the 2011 models. The 711 should be a 2010 model.

yes, the person on the shop said that he is sorry but it cant record...

so I got the 721 for the same price

and now evrything is working great

Hi negev11 it seems the only OK recording tested and reccomended HD is the Western Digital My Book Essentials 1Gb and 2Gb, no other HD has been tested according to Sony website recomendation, so i personnally will change (if at time) your HD for the WD instead, good luck.
