Sony Cybershot DSC-W270

Hello . I have a 3 year old Sony Cybershot DSC-W270 Camera which has been working fine upto now.  Recently it has started doing some funny things. When you switch it on it starts zooming in and out on its own, goes into delete folders, or zooms in to show multiple small thumbnails etc. This happens in both modes for taking photos and in playback mode. Sometimes switching the camera on and off might put the fault right to be able to take some photos but then it starts doing the same thing again and you cant take any photos then. Any ideas what can be wrong ?

Hello kusaini

If the camera is behaving oddly and attempting various functions erratically, there may be an internal fault within the camera and in this instance, I would advise you to contact Sony Customer Services to see if a repair is possible and if so, what the cost of this would be. There are contact details available on this forum thread:

You could always try resetting the camera to its factory settings to see if this resolves the problem. If you cannot locate the menu function to perform the reset (or simply can't get to it) you could try removing the battery for 30 mins to 1 hour or if there is a pinhole reset button, you can insert a small object into the hole to reset it.

Thanks,

Simon
