Z1 Problems

Hi there!

Was at a phone shop earlier this afternoon afternoon and there I was comparing the new HTC One M8, Galaxy S4, Galaxy S5 and the Xperia Z1 side by side. For some reason I fell in love with the Z1. Why? It was just the right size (5" screen), its very light, build quality seem topnotch, audio quality (with my headphones) was near amazing, camera quality seem excellent and it was quite fluid and performance seem spot on.

But I want to ask about the curreent 4.4.2 update and other issues.

1. There seem to be no "Stop All" option as regards stopping all apps in thr multitasking button

2. Heard of intermittent wifi disconnections and this problem of wifi signal getting significantly weak even at a not-so distance

3. Camera placment is just wrong. You have a 99.99% chance you will cover it when taking a photo

4. Speaker sound still sounded muffled because of this wtaerproof thing.

Any comments please? Thnks.

Well, as long as Sony IS listening and support in the next 12 months at least then i'll be satisfied.

They are listening,it is that a lot of work has to be done for all devices and it is not that easy.I have added the alarm problem to that topic.

@gino76ph,

I'm just a concerned reader here. About your waterproofing issue, it's true that Z1 can withstand almost any kind of liquid including melted chocolates, beer, soda etc otherwise it will not get an IP/58 certification. But be reminded that Sony, the soul manufacturer of this device, the one who tested the device and the one who knows everything about the device does not recommend to use it on the said mediums other than fresh water (fresh water means no other chemical composition must be found except pure water even chlorine w/c is common in swimming pools is harmful salt water is also harmful) it is also written in Z1 white papers and Z1 manuals. Why not use the device rather than fresh water? Prolonged or frequent use of the device with these liquids other than fresh water will weaken the phones waterproofing lifespan, coz it will have chemical reaction with the seal used to waterproof the phone. Even fresh water can weaken the seal, but it will take time before the seal weakens with fresh water.

remember, "waterproofing is a security feature for accidents, not a feature to be abused"

The only thing i have done so far is "wash" it in the sink for 5 seconds. And this is perhaps twice a day. Thre times maximum.

Another question is....if i unintentionally or intentionally remove or peel of the back casing will that weaken the waterproffing ability of the phone? Is it safe?

Before I put to charging I kill all the applications and turn off the wireless conection then I lock the screen.

I do not understand. It discharges while charging? It means there are lots of processes in the background and the phone overheats.

What i meant because of my "curiosity" to see the back portion of the phone (was trying if i can remove the battery to solve my earlier problem of the frozen screen). I managed to peel a quarter of the back plate and then i had to fasten it back.

Was that a good idea or not?

Now, i noticed another thing.  A mist (or mildew) has developed of what looks like inside the camera lens. It was somewhat temporary and under the 24c sun it became less apparent and slowly decpated. I feer that peeling off the back plate has weakened the waterproofing and if i wash the phone for a few soconds in the sink might now be non-beneficial.

So, what could that mist mean?
