Hello,
I was using my phone earlier today and as usual it gave a temperture warning so I powered it off and went in my car to drive somewhere. When I got there and powered on the device it vibrated but the screen remained black (notification light is working and vibrations for notifications but no display ), any ideas ?
I have already attempted powering of the device by holding the power and volume up buttons but other then vibration no success.
Hi @redone2500 and welcome to the community.
I'm sorry to hear this. There are a few things you can try to get your phone up and running again. First try to temporarily remove any SIM and SD card from your device to see if they are causing this behavior.
I would also recommend that you charge your device for at least 30 minutes after doing a force restart (volume up + on/off key). Does the device charge? The LED light that indicates charging should change colour if so.
Let me know how it goes!
I removed the sim card and plugged the device in it is giving me notification noises but the led notification light is no longer working and the bottom of the device is quite hot, normally it is the top that heats up during usage?
I was doing some research online and most of the things I read said to reset the device to factory, should I do that?
Thank you for your quick response
What you can try if you are still experiencing the same behavior after trying the suggested troubleshooting, is to perform a software repair using Xperia Companion to see if anything software related is causing this behavior.
Keep me posted how it goes.
I ran the support companion and it did not correct the black screen issue. The phone appears to run but touch screen and display seem as if they are unpowered as if the screen power ribbon is unplugged.
I'm afraid that if you are still experiencing the same thing after doing a software repair it is related to your devices hardware. I recommend that you get in contact with your Local support team for assistance with having your device sent in to an authorized service center for further troubleshooting and repair.
Let me know how it works out.
I wouldn't take it to the repair centre for any kind of repair there will be no warranty & it will end up costing quite abit. If you type in google Sony complaints it will tell you about the practices there operate everything will be designed to extract as much cash as possible from you & leave you dissatisfied.
Ok thank you i will let you know how it turns out also do you know of any way i can get the IMEI number without being able to turn the device on ?
yeah that is what I have heard and when I was on the support phone call the representative said "the display is not covered under warranty" so I am unsure of how to resolve the situation I do have a warranty but I can not access the IMEI number because the display is not working. probably just going to buy a samsung because I trust their brand lol.
Are you sure about the warranty? Have you examined the phone using a magnifying glass there do get stringently inspected to determine the cause of the fault.
