@exanquinator  I'm no sure what the "it" is in your post, it makes little sense. No one here is referring to music in any way shape or form, that's just misleading.

PEOPLES ISSUE IS THAT THE PHONE RINGS AND THEY CAN NO LONGER HEAR IT, THAT'S WHEN IT'S IN THEIR POCKET OR EVEN ON A TABLE NEXT TO THEM!

If you walk around with your phone next to your ear waiting for it to ring then that is entirely up to you.

I was referring to the link provided earlier, which basically sony says the volume is lower when it rings because it's a safe guard to people having the phone next to their ear listening to music.
I said who listens to music with a phone by their ear when they have stereo speakers.
So i think that sony is wrong to have this safeguard on the Z3.
I'd rather have a loud ringtone and be able to turn the ringtone down if too loud, than have it on max and still not hear it.

If sony can prove to me that more than 10% of sony z3 users walk around with a phone next their ear,(for whatever reason)then I'll accept their ridiculous explaination
My fone has been with this issue since i got it with kitkat and was wondering how much softer it can it get.

It's definitely a software issue, because I've increased the db of a custom ringtone to such an extent that it's totally distorting on test but when my fone rings it's still quiet.

Either way, considering how many issues there are on this forum about the Z3,i can't complain about my simple issue too much...Lol

I'm sorry, I misunderstood you, I thought you were answering me specifically. You do realise that link is to the first page of this actual thread, which in itself is ridiculous.

Here is a breakdown of this thread.

1)Hi, I have this problem.
2)No you don't, see.
3)No he's right, there is a problem.
4)Umm no there isn't, did you not see this. Goto 1.

Yes,probably
this ringtone volume had been complained about a lot everywhere here and on the net
I doubt it's going to get resolved anytime soon, given Sony's explaination of why it's so low
I mean, have it loud enough to wake the dead, that's what a volume slider is for, if anyone can't take the loudness, they'll turn it down... Simple
I mean who in the right mind plays their home stereo on 10 all day every day... Really

Update: I actually heard my phone ring today, it was quite something. I was on my own in the kitchen before I went to work, I was drinking a cup of coffee, it was Douwe Egberts instead of the usual Tesco own, we got it cheap from a carboot, obviously it was in date and still sealed... but I digress. My phone was in my pocket, the only ambient noise was nothing at all, then this extremely faint but somehow familiar rhythm started playing. For a moment I looked around a little confused, what's that? I know that sound? IT'S MY PHONE!! "Hello" I say...  you answered!" my wife was just as amazed as me. Today was a good day, thanks Sony.
