You could try to remove the SIM and SD cards > boot on safe mode > see if that helps

thanks for your quick response, cant boot tio safe mode since phone wont start up in the first place. and there is no sony centre around my country
Try performing a system repair using PC Companion - This will factory reset your phone and erase all data
Switch off your phone and unplug from Pc (Hold volume up and power for around 10 seconds)
Start PC Companion and select Support zone then Update my phone/tablet then in Blue Repair my phone/tablet and follow the on screen instructions - When prompted connect your phone still switched off holding volume down or back button - This should start the repair or reformat process
If you are using Windows 8/8.1 or a 64bit operating system then adjust the settings for PC Companion and run in compatibility mode and chose Windows 7 or XP
thanks friends for your support...the phone apparently woke up yesterday night, indicated battery at 100% but by lunch time today it behaved abnormaly again battery status flactuating the it went off never to wake up again. its no vibrating when i press the power button, the red light blinks for a while then stops n repeats.cant connect to pc...saddest thing no sony center in this part of africa n even in sonys website nearest country to kenya is south africa. feels like i have wasted my hard earned money
Are you not able to return it to the place of purchase? or ask Sony for a pre-paid return label, I'm not able to offer advice much more than that as I don't know what consumer laws you have
thanks Thommo,i bought the phone ion dubai and am from kenya.there is no service center in kenya and if i check on the 'sony contac us' the nearest cuntry provided is south africa.
long and short.... Sony was a good phone but they lost the plot. My Z3 compact, virtually new, does the same thing. Sony too much hassle; and then we haven't even touched the screen issue! Slightest crack and the whole phone is gone! Any other, you can still go ons for years.....
