XZ1 - Brightness stucks at 20% after android 9 pie update

Since the pie update my brightness is no longer adjustable over a maximum of  +/- 20%. I'm able to move the slider to zero, then the display turns dark. While moving the slider up the display turns brighter until the 20% level. After this the slider still moves up but the brightness stucks at that point.

Neither the adaptive brightness settings on/off nor the software repair by companion had any impact on this behaviour. So actually the phone is useless at this state if you're outside in the daytime.

Does anyone else have such issues? (Or a possible solution...)

Is this a known bug or should I contact the repair agency? (as it was nice with oreo...)

I can't replicate this issue, it'll be wise to test the phone once more before contacting Sony
