Hi All.
I've done a serach and haven't found an answer, so please forgive me if this has been addressed.
I've just moved from a Z1 Compact to XZ Premium. I've noticed on emoji's that instead of the face pictures as I had on the Z1C, on the XZP, they'r eshowing up as the type characters. Bizzare if the new phone has gone backwards. Can this be changed to show the faces and not the symbols, or are Sony expecting that I've moved up to the squashed faces?
Thanks in advance.
@Quester
Happens in the standard Android Messages app. I don't have any other chat apps as yet, still moving things from the Z1C to the XZP.
What keyboard are you using? SwiftKey and Gboard both have a dedicated emoji key.
@pony65kSony Messaging app automatically converted some strings of text to smiley icons, while Google's Android Messages doesn't. the feature depends on the app you're using, for example Facebook Messenger still does it when you send a 🙂 icon. you can either find an SMS app that does it, or suggest the change to Google via "send email" button in Android Messages app's Play Store entry. that said, actual emoji (not an emoticon made from colons and parentheses) will still show up as a smiley face in Android Messages.
I'm using SwiftKey ay this stage. I did use the dedicated emoji button. The xmiley faces are on the far right when I press the button.

Do you have a link to this, I can't find it, or perhaps I don't know what I'm looking for.
@BYW, how can I highlight the @name?
Thanks.
