Camera extremely grainy

Camera is extremely grainy. The photo is set to 23mp 4:3 . Even at 23 mp the photos look as if they are 5mp. Picture quality is quite bad.

I have been reading some topics here abd I see the sony suppory team responds to issues..except for the camera. A lot of people, and I'm one of them, are complaining on how the photos are grainy and having trouble focusing for macro. Also the how they are blurred by the edges of the photos.

Main selling point for Xperia XZ is its camera and this is the main reason why I got this phone. But oh well, such a big disappointment. Can this be fixed maybe through some software update?

It can be fixed but whether it will be or not is a different matter. Two updates in and still no double tap to wake fix.

I noticed this too.. theres no Sony support for the camera yet although there are a whole lot of people complaining about the bad image quality of the XZ, which can be also seen in smartphone reviews.. we dont need statements from sony about the camera... the only thing that is needed are software updates for the cam to fix this bad issues!

Thinking about how things are going with the recent updates drives me believe the fixes we're waiting will come with Nougat....

And has it's logic

That does make sense but it would be nice for Sony to make an official announcement that the tap to wake, camera, RAM management and perhaps even battery life are going to be addressed. I hate hearing nothing, it's shoddy and doesn't instil any faith.

I was thinking in the same way that Sony will improve the camera with the software update, But never happened since my Z1

Camera was unchanged.

Only thing you can do is - Switch to Manual Mode

Keep the ISO as low as possible, even in low light try to maintain ISO below 400,

   Use 'MULTIPLE' on metering.

Tweak the white balance to a WARMER tone and adjust the lighting accordingly

Sure you will get a better image than Superior Auto but looking at the past I dont think Sony will improve the camera quality via an update.
