Xperia Z2 VPN problem

I own:

Xperia M dual Android version 4.3 build 15.5.A.1.5

Xperia Z2 tablet Android version 4.4.2 build 17.1.1.A.0.402

With the Xperia M dual it is possible to use VPN to my private network

With the Xperia Z2 tablet it is not possible to use VPN to my private network

The Xperia Z2 connects (using PPTP and/or L2TP/IPSEC, both tested wit same result) but immediately disconnects.

What can I do to fix the problem?

It's very expensive tablet, I did buy this tablet to use it with my private network, after testing it with my Xperia M dual.

So I really was convinced the expensive tablet would support VPN as well.

Have you tried to use a VPN app as appose to the onboard VPN setup?

I use the app "mobile VPN" on my Z2 and my iPad to access my work corporate network, and it connects just fine.

Good luck.

Thanks for your answer.

Unfortunately I don't trust the free vpn apps, you never know which internet traffic is monitored by the app itself.

I tried open vpn. And yes, that works. But I prefer the more trustworthy Sony Xperia Z2 / Android settings then a free app.

Will there be an update in the future for the Xperia Z2 tablet to solve the problem with VPN?

Fair point, we have a dedicated IT team to monitor intrusions etc not to mention the corporate firewalls and such. I guess I'd be a little concerned about using it on a home network.

I was using OpenVPN just fine. PPTP also worked. Had a lot of trouble and no time to look for solution with L2TP.

Do you have any logs on your server? If it disconnects there must be a reason. Wrong ciphers, unsupported setup, KitKat specific issue. Start from finding disconnect reason in your logs. Tablet itself won't help you with that too much.
