Xperia Z1 sound muffled/echoey in call?

I bought a z1 yesterday. Tried to call people. The call worked the person can hear me but I sound all muffled and echoey? I've been told I sound like I'm holding something in between the phone too, but nothing is there except a screen protector?
Please help

Do you have a case on the phone at all and can you please try putting it on speaker phone and tell me if you get the same problem?

Hi. No no casing at all except a screen protector.. Speaker phone makes it a lot worse the call goes all muffled more and crackly

Unfortunately it is a bit difficult for me to be certain without actually hearing myself; however it does sound like you may have a hardware issue in which case I would have to advise you to return the phone so that it may be assessed by an authorised agent.

i have the same problem on mine ,no one can here me on the other end also i find the signal strenth goes from full bars to zero as i try to make a call,very frustrating

Just trying to find out why iothpeople i call keep on telling me they cant hear me, or sound like i'm in the bottom of a well or underwater

only to find other folk are having the same problem

me, I think i'm gonna get a different phone
