xperia arc s (lt18i) 3g network problem

plz,help me with my sony Ericsson xperia arc s Lt18i..i
just bought d phone new I can't switch it to only 3g
but whenever I switch it to 2g it will get full signal bars but if it's 3g no signal bars will show up..plz help me
out

Do you have a 3G network around ?

go to settings > mobile networks > and change the network mode to wcdma preff\gsm

@slimshaddy...it's been on that network mode all day...i don't know if it's a firmware related issue cause there's a guy in my neighborhood same model(lt18i)white case...in his own when u switch d network mode to wcdma only 3g signal bars will show up but within some seconds it will be going out all of a sudden cause his own firmware ain't same with mine...mine never shown up 3g since I bought the phone..plz I need your advice or solution

No network coverage

  • Make sure you have set your device to use the correct network type. If your subscription plan does not support the LTE (4G) standard, you must select a network type other than LTE (4G). If necessary, contact your operator for more information about your subscription and the network types supported.

  • Make sure Airplane mode is turned off.

     

    To turn off Airplane mode

    1. From your Home screen, tap Application screen icon in Sony Smartphones.
    2. Find and tap Settings > More….
    3. Unmark the Airplane mode checkbox.
  • Check the signal strength icon in the status bar to make sure that your phone is connected to a network Mobile network signal strength icon in Sony Smartphones. If the signal is low or there is no signal, move to an open location, or get close to a window.

     

  • Make sure that your SIM card is working properly. Insert your SIM card in another phone. If this works, it is probably your phone that is causing the problem. In this case, contact the nearest Sony Mobile service centre.

     

  • Search for a network from the phone to check if any networks are available.
     

    To search for available mobile networks

    1. From the Home screen, tap Application screen icon in Sony Smartphones.
    2. Find and tap Settings > More… > Mobile networks > Network operators.
    3. Select a network in the list that appears.
  • If your phone is not receiving any network signal, or the signal is too weak, contact your network operator and make sure that the network has coverage where you are.

there's network on my phone full edge signal..but when I switch over to wcdma it will all gone not even a single signal bar...i don't know if the problem is from baseband....i just wanna ask if a baseband can cause it?...plz reply

Go to Settings > Wireless & Networks > Mobile networks > Service Provider ( Check if 3G / 4G network list in your search...
