Using Xperia Z2 noise-cancelling headphones with other hardware?

Hi.

I tried Z2 headphones on both iPad and Macbook Air and I am getting weird behaviour - I get some sound but usually no vocals - it's as if the bass and treble are there but not the midrange.

Everything is superb when connected to Z2.

Can I use Z2 headphones with other hardware? The mini-jack would indicate that I should be able to, right?

How about with other sony hardware such as PS Vita and Sony Vaio?

Since the MDR-NC31E headset is a 5-pole headset, there might be some problems to use this headset to other units (depending on the hardware e.g). There can be some disorders for the sound or similar.
