update for my Xperia XA1. went through process now frozen on starting apps

I accepted update and after going through the usual cycle it has frozen. The screen states that Android is upgrading and it's starting apps but nothing is happening and buffering icon is frozen. Can't switch it off or anything

You can force a shut down by holding the power button and the volume up button at the same time. 

If you still cannot complete the update process, I recommend you perform a software repair using Xperia Companion.
