SBH-52 is defect and i got an older type (SBH-50) back after 'repair'

Dear all,

My SBH-52 is defect. 

It still charges when applied to a powersource like usb or charger, but i can't switch it on.

I tried more than once to install new firmware but it doesn't help.

Now i sent it in for repair, and they say it cannot be repaired and instead of that they exchanged it for

the older type SBH-50 with less functionality (and less expensive, €89 vs €69)

i think that the SBH-52 is out of stock in sales (see for yourself on the Sony website) and aftersales (for repair and guarantee issues) so this is for them the only option at this moment.

So beware when you think that you have a defect and be sure to try everything like updating software before sending it in.

I asked (yesterday) them that i rather wait for the same device instead of an older one, so i wait to see what the answer will be?

I'm sorry to hear. But if a product is not in stock for the moment and the service center is unable to repair your unit, they will offer you an equivalent product so you don't need to wait and be without your accessory in this case.

But if you are not satisfied with the product that they can offer for the time being, I suggest that you contact your local support team to see what possibility you have in this case:

The message i got in March 2014 is that the SBH-52 is not sold anymore via the Sony webshop

Just try it, there is no buy button near the product. They don't produce the device anymore, i think it has to much (software) problems and the productrange of sony is running so fast that there are other devices which has the same functionality

Of course is there stock in stores around the world so you can still buy the device, but if you get any problems with it,

the sbh-52  might be a changed with its predecessor, the sbh-50 which has less functionality and is also cheaper.

This happend to my, sony and its repair centre are willing to help me with an other solution, so they are doing great work nevertheless. And when the SBH-52 was working before it went defect it was a good functional product, that is for sure.
