Please help....yes I'm a newbie and all that but I am pretty tech savvy ....
On my Z3 Compact I have insterted a 128Gb Micro SDXC card into the mem slot. Have go the MediaGo app running and have a source on my C:\ drive for my music which is around 56Gb in library size.
When I drag and drop music or try to sync music via the app to the memory card I get a rediculously slow speed on data transfer to the point that it takes nearly two hours to move one 12 song album across to the card.
I have tried insterting the card with the device off and also formatting the card but none of this helps.
I also have a 64Gb card which I have tried in the same scenarios, this card performs as you would expect with fast data transfer and syncronisation of my library. This rules out an issue with the device in terms of memory card recognition and having tried the 128Gb card in other devices I can see the card fine so I know the card isnt faulty. This leads me to a conclusion that my Z3 doesnt support 128Gb SanDisk Ultra micro SDXC cards which is contrary to what I have read.
Can anyone please advise on what I am missing here.
Thanks
Hmm.... I have a similiar configuration - a Sandisk 128GB MicroSD card with about 77GB of FLAC/MP3/M4A music...? However - I don't use the MediaGo app...?
So - I'm wondering...
If the MediaGo app isn't trying to index your music as it "downloads"? It's why I use "PowerAmp" rather then "Walkman" (and I suspect MediaGo)... As well - on my 128GB SD - I also have a ".nomedia" file in the root of that Music folder/directory, to prevent all my music being indexed by the native Sony apps...?
Anyway - you and I don't have average sized Music libraries I'm guessing - but - my first thought is that it's trying to "index" your media as you upload it?
You can try adding that hidden file - and see what happens. If it fixes it, you'll still have to remove it to use the Sony apps..

OK thanks JohnD but that doesnt explain why the 64Gb card works a treat and the 128Gb doesnt. This is what is confusing.
Honestly? That's exactly what I'm "stuck on" as well...? As really - there shouldn't be a difference. I say that - and can also bring up other variables like the USB connection, cord, host computer, etc... But - I think if we try eliminating the indexing on the fly issue (writing a .nomedia file), we can try to eliminate the other variables...
Anyway - maybe someone else will have another suggestion - as I only posted what first came to mind..
Let us know what you find as you play with it, OK?
Best Always,
John
Will do JohnD will have a "play" later to see if i can resolve. Thanks again
I have had a similar issue. I have a 128 GB sandisk Micro SD inserted into my Z3 Compact, However my issure is not with the transfer itself, but playing back the media. I transfered over a large amount of albums across, but It will only play about half of the files, yet they are all the same format, and have all been transfered fully!
I am not usualy one to get stuck with issues like this, I have tried wiping the card many times, and I have had points where the transfer has gone perfectly when transfering a single album, and some that have not worked at all, yet all of the files are on the SD card and show up on my memory.
If somone can help me out that would be swell.
And in adition to John D's comment, I was using a 32GB SD card previously to this and it works totaly fine, had no issues, plus it was a lower class card. my 32GB card was class 4, where as my new card is class 10.
Any help would be great.

Hi JonnyCrabtree.!
So sorry for the delayed reply - but business travel has kept me otherwise "entertained" as it were...
Can you try something for me?
On the albums that are not showing on the Z3C - and yet play/show on your PC - can you check the format? If they are MP3, run a software product called "MP3 Checker" on your PC to be certain that they are not corrupt? As well - if you are copying from iTunes - older DRM protected formats - then they may have an issue as well...?
In my case - I found a few albums in my library that suffered the same issues, but I was able to port them over once I figured out the issues...?
As well - can you tell us what you are using for a music player - Walkman, or PowerAmp or..??
My best - and again - so sorry for the delayed reply!
John D.
