Travelling with the Sony Tablet S

So I decided to go for it and leave my beloved Pink VAIO at home and take my Sony Tablet S to Sweden with me.  Haven’t got any urgent work to do, so thought great, it will do just the job for internet browsing, uploading photos etc.

Everything was going great, connected to the wifi in BA lounge, played some solitaire on the plane.

Unfortunately, even though the hotel is lovely, really plush and advertised free internet access, what I didn’t plan for was it was not wireless, and my Sony Tablet S obviously doesn’t have an Ethernet connection.

So tablet back in its sleeve, locked in the safe, while I slum it on the other half's “ThinkPad”

What a fantastic idea Thal, I'd never heard of that before.  Almost makes me want to abandon my Guinness and Jameson to return to my hotel and try it out.  But I will resist, and give it a go tomorrow

A simple solution, supposing you have an android phone, is to set up the phone as a mobile network so you can use its 3g capability. Slower than a wifi network of course but i tried it on a hut trip and it worked well for basic net access.
