Sorting tracks on albums uploaded to A-45 Walkman

During lockdown I copied my entire 30 year CD collection (1020 Cds, 16,000 tracks, 94 gb) onto a MicroCard for my A-45 Walkman. It took a while. I did this by first copying them as MP3 files to the hard drive on  my PC then copying that across to the card. On the PC I used File Explorer to make sure that within individual albums, which copied as folders, the songs were ordered as on the original CD by sorting by the # column (i.e. track number).

But this doesn't seem to carry across to the Walkman card. On some CDs songs seem to be sorted within albums in alphabetical order. Trying to correct this by connecting the Walkman as Mass Storage and sorting by # in File Explorer seems to work but isn't carried through as when I reboot the device to play the sorting by # isn't there.

This is very irritating. How can I stop the Walkman doing this and ordering them by track no instead?

PS I've done this kind of copying before to ordinary MP3 players and never had this problem.

Sorting in Windows File Explorer does not affect anything other than the view you are seeing. It doesn't touch or alter the files.

Sony recommends using their specialized app Music Center for PC. Why not give that a go?
