NW A55L deletes files from sd card

I’m the proud owner of a NW A55L and having an issue with the device deleting mp3 files when it creates the database. I’ve tried 2 SD cards 128 gb and 64 gb and the same happens. Also tried copying directly via windows and with the incredibly slow Sony music center. I’ve formatted and mounted the card several times. 

it deletes all but ~ 10 gb when creating the db. The folder remains afterwards but no mp3. I bought this for high capacity but am now restricted to ~ 26 GB

I’m pulling my hair out and have wasted a lot of time. Any suggestions? Please don’t suggest a Sony SD card as they are out of my price range after forking out 150£ on this , which clearly has a major anomaly

Thanks for the replies. I tried making the SD read only and it still deletes the MP3 files and the empty folders remain. How is this possible ? I will be returning if Sony don’t provide a workaround

Have you tried formatting the SD card using the Walkman?
