Hi,
I have 2 laptops one VAIO K215Z with Wirelss 54Mbps and another VAIO B1XP with wireless 54Mbps and it connects peer to peer only at 11Mbps,.. i changed the connection to 802.11g (54) but they still connect to 11mbs.. does anyone knows what to do..?
K215Z wireless is LAN-Express AS IEEE 802.11g miniPCI Adapter
B1XP wireless is INTEL PRO 2200 IEEE 802.11b/g
i never used an acces point to test them.. though in peer to peer they connect only at 11mb...
Thank you,
All the very best for all.
On an ad hoc connection the 802.11 specification only says that the wireless cards (whether 802.11b or g) must reach a speed of 11 Mbps and no more. A lot of cards are like this.
The only way to get the full 54 Mbps out of these cards is to use a router.
That is new for me.:smileyshocked:
Most of the suppliers don't advertise whether their cards will connect peer to peer at 11 Mbps or 54 Mbps.
Ntegear do tell their customers - but only if you search support
Ah, good to know. Thanks. That would explain that problem.
I found the same in the D-Link support yet. click me
I think more and more that Sony has fuckoptimized the driver. /
LOl Seb
in fact ROFL..

I have a PCG K215Z and it only connected to wireless at 11Mbs no more no less. Its why I got DSL (plus it is more secure)
??
DSL is the broadband service, wirelessness is the connection from your computer to a router or to the DSL service. They are not one and the same, upgrading one will not change the speed on the other, or make it more secure?
I seem to remember trying the latest Intel drivers on my K-Series and they wouldn't work, but Sony released an update at the same time
so I used it instead. As long as I have no problems, there is no real reason to use another driver. I guess Rob hit the nail on the head, I didn't know that either.
