i have a sony vaio ar-51m,laptop, the model number underneath says pcg-871m, anyway a while ago i purchased a couple of verbatim bd-re discs rewritable and copied some files onto them, because it was so long ago i cant remember what software i used to write the files,or even if i just used vista to to drag them onto the burn list.
I tried adding some more files and vista says something like "your drive doesnt support this type of disc" yet it will read the disc ok, so i purchased roxio ulimate 2009 with blu-ray support - tried to copy the files with this and it said something about bad media, so i tried to delete the files already on the disc, thinking it could be a problem with the way the files were written to the disc originaly - this didnt work.
Next i bought a new blank tdk rewritable disc, the laptop wont even reconize the disc!
Went onto the support site for vaio and upgraded the drives firmware, still no difference, so i thought the only thing to try was a complete re-install, set the whole thing back to its factory default settings, reinstalled roxio, and guess what? Still doesnt write to the discs, I suspect the drive must be faulty - but if anyone has any ideas, i would appriate them before i send it back for repair, and its one month out of warranty.
