SONY VAIO MAIN BOARD FAILURE - help

Hi all,

Tried to start my laptop Sony VGN FS215S this morning (normal shutdown last night). No power. no lights nada.
Called Sony support and no luck with battery in/out, power cable only etc. not a peep

Diagnosis - Main Board failure

Result - 14 months old - out of warranty - cost of repair cited at £557.03

Anyone out there with any suggestions?

Hi drg and welcome to Club Vaio.

The only other explanation, which I can think of, is a cable failure between the power switch and motherboard. Maybe a local notebook repairer would be able to confirm the diagnosis for you?
