Have you used the Crucial checker to see what RAM your PC can accept.

Crucial

Sony says it is upgradable to 2GB - see
here.

Plug in the external monitor so you can see what the problem is and reinstall the utilities from Vaio Link. Delete the monitor driver and reboot it will reinstall it

I could be totally off track here BUT....

Does it boot OK if you remove the memory again?

If so maybe you have to install them in pairs?

I was was under that belief when I upgraded the RAM on my RZ502P.

I am pretty certain that William has hit the nail on the head there. The RZ422P has 4 slots (2 banks of 2) which means that modules must be ordered and installed in pairs.

Thank you. I nearly made the same mistake myself!

Thanks Guys

I had asked on another site if I need to install in pairs and I advised that I could install a single moduel.
The Crucial checker indicated that a single unit could be installed.
The answer to Williams question is no the pc did not boot up.
I have returned the memory to the supplier with the hope of an exchange to 2 units

Again thank you for all of your help it is very much appreciated

Sorry, just to clarify - Even with the NEW memory removed it still won't boot?
