Adobe Reader

Hello.

I am having a great deal of trouble downloading and opening files that require the Adobe Reader. The files etc trying to be acessed say that my Reader is out of date or corrupted (the one on my computer is Adobe Reader 7).

When I try and download or update a newer version of the Adobe Reader it stops about 3/4 way through asking me to close the current reader on my laptop because it is 'open'. As far as I can see the reader is not open anywhere.

Can anyone help me resolve this problem please.

Finally, can anyone suggest best download site for updating or replacing the Reader, Acrobat etc.

Thank you, all help appreciated

Gyron

Not necessarily related to SONY but...

Try this link:

http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/quick-fix-install-download-reader.html

and this:

http://get.adobe.com/reader/direct/

Good luck!

hi, maybe not a Sony problem as such agreed, but also try to uninstall the previous version of Adobe reader, also delete the then redundant folder in Program Files. then go to adobe downloads.

Hello takrzem,

sincere apologies for not replying earlier but have been away from my laptop.

I am afraid your links could not solve problem. When I try the second link http://get.adobe.com/reader/direct/ the download gets to about 65/70% install and then fails saying I have adobe7 open and to close to move forward. To my knowledge I do not have adobe7 open. Any clues as to what is going wrong?

It looks as if I might have delete my current installation of adobe and start over with yiur suggestion via second link. What do you think?

Hi Gyron,

That would seem like a good place to start..

If you are not sure how to remove a program then the links below may help..

Uninstalling a program Windows Vista

Uninstalling a program Windows 7 (if the video tutorial does not run don't worry just follow the instructions further down)

Once Adobe reader has been uninstalled download the latest version from the Adobe Reader download page

Note if you do not want the free McAfee Security Scan Plus utility then ensure you remove the tick from the checkbox before clicking on Download..:smileywink:
