Sony NX703 and Skype

Hi

I bought a Sony NX703 in September 2010. I would like to know whether I could connect to Skype. It is an internet enabled television. It has widgets like Youtube, etc.

Will the firmwire upgrade help me to access Skype ?

If not, the only option for me is to invest in Sony Blu ray Player S780 which has Skype inbuilt in it.

Hope someone can advice me on this.

Unfortunately Skype is not available on any of the 2010 models.

HI, I have the NX705, apparently it also does not support skype, but si there actualy a technical reason for?  It has USB connectivity and I would assume the SW could proably be updated.\

Or is it a commercial decision not to do so?

Kind of pitty for those just having a late 2010 model.

Yes the hardware doesn't support it I'm afraid - where possible services are made backwardly compatible like many of the new Internet Video services. However this isn't always possible with some of the features like Skype as the platform itself changed in 2011 ( e.g. Xross Media bar has been changed entirely).
