"Out of Range" - Sony Bravia KDL-32V4000

I recently bought a Toshiba BDX3100KB Multi-Region Blu-ray Disc Player so that I could watch Region A (USA) Blu-rays on the above Sony tv.

Despite following all the advice from the various posts on-line, the Sony tv only displays "Out of Range" on the screen when I tray to play a Blu-ray - even when that Blu-ray is a Region B (UK).

Do I simply have to accept that my KDL-32V4000 tv is incompatible with the Toshiba Blu-ray player, or is there some way that the two can be made to "shake hands"?

Thank you very much for your advice.

How do I reduce the resolution (I'm a non-"techie"!).

If this requires a connection to the TV (which I assume it does), then I would appear to be in a Catch 22 situation, as the TV will only display the error message?

I'd be grateful for further advice (in words of one syllable!).

Hi @Adjutant   It looks like you need to seek help from Toshiba if you cannot display the setup menu on your TV. Tell them you need to set the resolution to 1080i.

Thank you.

Toshiba UK no longer deal with TVs, but I have managed to change the resolution by using my partner's TV!

Regards,

Mike

Hi @Adjutant

The Out of Range message is simply telling you that you have set your new Blu-ray player’s resolution too high for your TV. Reduce the resolution until it is in range (1080i?). I suspect you have it set to 1080p.

I don’t know if it matters as I have no experience but remember the U.K. picture standard is PAL and the USA standard is NTSC.
