Can I find what issues are addressed in this update? - would this be a firmware or software update?

Yeah i had this issue with my TV exact same set, how are you finding it? The answer to your question is you'll have to wait 3 to 4 days before the sony site updates and tells you what the update does. Would be nice if you could see some release notes though.

no sign of info re the july update

last update I can see on this site was 17/06/11

no problems with the july one - yet!

Well i noticed that it added 3D content might of improved 3D too but I dont have any glasses so cant confirm. But so far only change is 3D content
