CX523 new firmware 3.407 not yet available from web site

My CX523 has just downloaded and installed a new version 3.407 of the firmware - I'm assuming it has done this via its internet/WiFi USB dongle. The TV is now showing as version PKG3.407EUA-0104.

But the support web pages here still only have version 3.309 available for download from here:

One of our family has a CX523 which does not have a WiFi dongle so I would like to update their TV for them by downloading the new firmware from this Sony support site and copying it onto a USB memory stick which I can then plug into their TV to upgrade it.

When will the new version 3.407 be available for download from the web site?

if they have internet and it has wi fi, why dont you take your Sony dongle round and update their tv for them that way!

They don't (don't ask! ). That's why I'm asking when it will appear on the Sony support web site.

Incidentally, what is wrong with these forums? I had been trying to start this topic since yesterday and keep getting "the forum is under maintenance" message and then my message is lost. It took about 6 attempts to get the first post to be accepted. Today I'm sometimes getting a "A recovered version of this content exists" message after the "maintenance..." message.

So far it has taken 4 attempts just to post this reply! What the heck is wrong with the forums? They are obviously NOT under maintenence.

yes your right!, its been on the blink a while now, i was told a while back about this, apparently someone decided to strip "non essential" components out of the software and has caused a few problems with it.

the forums were generally for the use and interaction of Sony users and purchasers of Sony products to share views and comments and to ask general questions for those willing and able to respond,

the forums are monitored by Sony Staff and indeed theres a sacred few that come on and share with us solutions and answers we submit.

i will raise these problems with StartTheCar as soon as im able.

back to your question on updates, not quite sure why Sony lag behind with updates on the website but as soon as they appear you should e ok downloading to a USB drive and installing on the tv.

just follow instuctions on how to do this.

Thanks. If you can get the forums fixed that would be great. It takes several attempts to post anything, so it's almost unusable at the moment.

Re USB drive - yes I did that to update my own TV when I first got it (before I got the internet connection working). Remarkably easy to do.

I'll just have to keep checking the web site.

Hi,

Some of the experts have noticed the exact same problem, we have reported this to the correct department that deals with these types of problems.

We've been told that they are investigating the problem, hopfully they'll find a fix soon..

All I can suggest until a fix is found is to copy the post before hitting Post Message, not the best of solutions but it does save retyping..

This is at least my 20th attempt at posting a reply, seems quote boxes & emoticons, etc may be causing problems 😕
