BBC HD Audio droput when switching from 1080p to 1080i

Hi

Just an enquiry on what the status is of the recently introduced problem on the BBC HD channel on the EX503 (and probably all 2010 Sony TV's that can receive Freeview HD). The new BBC HD codec now allows for dynamic switching between 1080p and 1080i content which causes a short dropout in the audio stream on Sony TV's. Is this problem going to be addressed by Sony/BBC with an update as it makes BBC HD fairly unwatchable with the continuous audio dropouts.

Other than this issue very happy with the TV (aprt from not being able to slect HD channel override so BBC1/ITV etc could be set to use the HD version by default).

Thanks

Chris

So,very good ,BUT what about those of us unable to update this way.. When are they going to update the support page to enable d/l via USB to flash drive?

As the PKG4.104EUL-0108 firmware update for 2010 models is being downloaded automatically to internet connected TVs (and has fixed the audio issue on BBC-HD according to reports on this forum), I have to assume that testing is complete and the fix is now released.

So can the download link be made available for all the other affected users who need to update via USB, please?

Well my receiver fails to retrieve the download via the Internet, been connected since Friday. Somethings not right.

Please get this on the OTA Channel ASAP.

I found that I needed to do a "Refresh Internet" before the update apeared to load.  Others had mentioned a flashing(?) yellow indicator, but I don't recall seeing this on my set.  When I checked after (say) ten minutes, the update had arrived.  I will be able to check tonight (given time) whether it has cured the problem.

Cheers,

David

I've had an ethernet cable trailed across my living room for 24 hours now with no sign of the update.  I've switched off/on, refreshed the internet content, left in standby overnight, made sure automatic updates are on.  I've always updated using USB. Why can't the file be uploaded to the support site?  This is a no-cost option for Sony and only upsets consumers when they can't get to it.

Hey ho, just have to _ut up w_ th th_  a_ dio dr_ pouts for a little longer.

Sure the updates will be available for USB download very shortly..

Sorry no possibility of getting Facebook and Twitter for 2010 TV's - Whilst I love both the services as much as the next guy, I'm not sure I'd want to use them on the TV. For me they are tablet/laptop/phone applications as opposed to big screen....just my 2c.

I'm please to advise that the internet software update for 2011 models is now available.

My main Bravia just updated itself this morning to PKG3.235. A banner came up when I switched it on advising that new software was available, and I naturally accepted install
