Any advice on the sound output of a SONY KDL-40EX503 ?

Apologies if this subject has been covered before .. I'm a Newbie here.:smileyconfused:

I have recently bought a SONY KDL-40EX503, and the volume of the sound output varies quite a bit depending on the input device being used. The TV is not connected to a home cinema system; it is not connected to an AV receiver or similar - I'm merely listening through the TV's own speakers.

What happens is that the volume is quite high when I'm watching say, BBC iPlayer, via my WiFi enabled SONY BluRay player, but if I switch to my Freesat SetTop Box, the volume drops considerably, and once I'm on the Freesat Box, the volume also varies a bit between some of the channels. This sort of variation in sound level never seemed to affect my previous TV.

Are there any settings I can tweak so that I'm getting a more uniform sound level from all the connected equipment ?

Sony-Sofa,

Hi and welcome, not sure about your particular model but do check in the menu under Sound and see if you have a feature called Advance Auto Volume and check thats off.

Thanks for the reply, Bravia55HX923. I've checked, and my TV doesn't have that feature.

None of the settings that are adjustable seem to fit the bill for my problem.

Hi

Most AV equipment like Sky, cable and some Media players will have a volume level control in there Menu, however they are not always the best way to control the difference in volume and in such cases the best alround fix is via an A/V amplifier.

Easily fixed! When you're watching one of your inputs, for example the Freesat box, select Options on the remote, then Sound. In the Sound menu, scroll down the page past Sound Enhancer to Volume Offset. Highlight and select Volume Offset, and you'll be able to adjust the volume of the input against your other sources. Do the same with the other inputs/sources until they all play with a similar volume.
