I just tried to update via PC Companion but after downloading it started to prepare the files and then I got this error.

Charge your phone for 30min then repeat the process but with SUS 

Update Service (SUS)

PC Companion (PCC)

Bridge (for Mac)

I think it's a connection problem. Sometimes Google Chrome prevents PC Companion to connect internet. You can try it after removing Google Chrome from your PC.

i think you re missing Sony Update Engine , google it and download SUE ,it may help . i have the same problem but not anymore when i downloaded SUE. good luck.

At last i successfully updated my phone two days back. It was Sony server error.

i updated my phone with the newest software, and now it reboots every 30 seconds!!!

but it seems like i can't connect my phone to my computer using the usb cable , it doesn't connect /  recognize the phone

Neither PC companion,nor Sony update service?Have you tried force restart?(power button+vol up until the phone vibrates).
