I have a newer Bravia - KD49x8390 (Andriod TV) - and there is no System Settings option when you go into settings - I cannot find anywhere where I can set us USB recording - it isn't even listed in the instruction manual I downloaded.
So it would seem, although I hardly trust the later this year part when you consider Sony are already nearly a month later with the Youview update here in the UK.
I've found this TV really frustrating as it was sold to me to have all this functionality which as yet, after 3 months, it still doesn't have.
Makes me wonder why they were in such a rush to release the Android Tv's when clearly there is still work to do
Hi all, shame is because I have two Sony TVS and old TV is 42w805a after few updates I lost recording options. When I set timer TV does not start and timer is cancelled. I have pause TV and recording during watching TV only. My second TV is 55x8509 I have no recording options and I am affraid that TV will get recording only to fill a promise for customer without pause TV. Sony gave picture settings for football watchers but without pause TV. It is stupid but we will see near future. More likely is that TVS are last from Sony I bought.
Common Sony speed up the software for recording via usb, I have KD-43X8305CBU, and love to record some programs but I can't as the software not available yet, It is frustrating to say the least.
nothing works all i get is the hdd is their thingy i am begining too think this tv is not fit for purpose as advertized i cant find any settings to activate the hdd me thinks i might chuck the 2week tv back th currys and get another make which is a shame as sony were always on the ball
Sony still have sorted out the software, so I believe, in fact I read on blogs that they may update the sofware sometimes before end of Feb 2016, still no sign of it. I check sony sites in case there is a notification, regretably nothing visible over the horizon.
My HDD is connected to my sony android in the hope that someday I will be able to record my favourite program before I die!!!!!
well lets hope so they got three days tops or i will be having a word with the currys tech guys who no doubt will give that blank expression that they are famous for
Cannot set remote programming if TV in standby mode. Will only set when TV is on or already recording. Anybody else having these problems. Model is KD-49X8309C
There are no system settings for HDD record (Android TV KD-55X5509C) - but it does exist!
If you plug a USB device into the HDD, switch off YouView in Settings and press record while watching a Digital channel tou will be promted to register your USB device/HDD.
Hi, I have a Bravia, model no kdl48wd653. I plug in my HDD, it recognises it but when I try to record a programme, it states "recording cannot be started. Connect the HDD to USB port for recording". It will not recognise it to register it in the settings menu. It is formatted to FAT 32. Any advice? Thank you.
make sure you have turned off UView or you will get nowhere fast stoopid i know but thats sony for ya its about time sony handed control back to the customer
Hi. I have a Bravia kdl32w705b. I have just attached USB hdd. The tv seems to record to hdd fine but my remote does not have a title list button. How do I see the title list/ playback?
Does anyone know if I can record to a USB memory stick? The SONY notes say USB HDD. I’ve tried it with one I already have, and the error given suggests it would work if it were greater than 32GB - I only want to record like one show per week, so getting a more expensive HDD is overkill
I have a 64 gig stick and still have all sorts of trouble. Most of the time it just doesn’t record. A guy at the shop told me I need a memory unit with its own power- these are expensive so I have done nothing!! T.
@bloxso Yeah, I did wonder if the memory stick might have an issue not being powered, which is a shame - I could really do without another big/loud black box in my TV area (and the cost of course)
I have a BRAVIA KD-49XF7003 I also have a seagate 1tb hdd which has successfully registered. There is over 800gb available but when I record a programme , the led is red on tv to indicate recording is in progress, I also look under recordings via the home button, the programme shows as it is being recorded but when the programme ends the recording is not there. Sometimes it does not even record at all. Can anyone help? Thanks
So I just got a new Sony tv 49xg8396 and you can’t record on it. What is up with that 600 pound tv and you can’t record. What is that about I have a good mind to return it...
If there is away of recording any info will be gratefully received
New BRAVIA 32WD75 (not Android) - I cant record on a USB stick. Can somebody help me please. I have a new Bravia 32WD75 TV (upgraded from an original CRT/Trinitron which is still working 20 years later). I have followed this article and I get as far as the HDD REGISTRATION but it just says HDD NOT RECOGNISED. I was trying to use this with a SanDisk 128Gb USB3 flash drive straight out of the packaging plugged into USB port 1. The drive is formatted as EXFAT (I think)... but on my Mac I cant format it as anything other than FAT or one of the MAC formats, which I am guessing is no good. I thought there was an option to format the drive on the TV... but I cant find this. Am I able to record to a stick? Or does it have to be an hdd? Do I have to format it in some (undefined) manner? I cant find any helpful documentation on this. The manual is crap and cant find any references to my TV anywhere. Have I bought a Pup. Please help.
Hello, on the Sony Bravia KD-50X81J, when recording with a timer, on a USB HDD/STICK, recording with EPG, the TV opens by itself when the recording starts. If I set a timer for recording at 03.00 in the morning, when the recording starts, then the TV opens with picture and sound. Is it normal, or is there a setting so that the TV does not open once the recording starts??? Please if you can help. Thank you in advance !
Yes that's normal, even if you turn the TV off, for it to start the timer recording, it will need to turn on that specific channel at the time you set. No workaround I'm afraid.
