The EPG does not appear

I have a Sony TV (KDL40W4000U) and a Sony RDR-HXD890 Freeview & HDD Recorder.  Both were installed in January 2009 and I’ve had no issues until now.

• On pressing the Guide button the EPG did not appear on screen.
  
• I went to System Menu/Initial Setup and carried out the Easy Setup process.
  
• When this was finalised I pressed the Guide button and the EPG did appeared on screen.
  
• I then turned the Recorder off and back on again, pressed the Guide button but the EPG once more did not appear on screen.
  

Can anyone help please?

Hi - I have just Emailed Sony with what appears to be the same problem as you describe with an RDR-HXD890 DVD Recorder, and I wondered if you had got a answer as yet?
