Soundbar Arc works selectively

My HT-XF9000 works perfectly with SkyQ via the Arc connection.  However if I use the TV selecting an App from the Smart option, say Prime, or play a DVD there is no sound and I must select the TVs audio. Any ideas on a fix?

Thank you for your suggestion.
I had thought firmware updates were automatically downloaded. Are you thinking for the soundbar only or all connected devices?
